Artist and tattoo artist Niklas Hallberg (aka Ryssnisse) creates ingenious illustrations with a touch of black humour and an unmistakable charmeable charm.
Tell us a little bit about your background, who is Niklas?
I am 36 years old, grew up in Stockholm and now live there with my partner Mira and our 2 children Alba (soon to be 2) and Nino (soon to be 6). Started drawing and tattooing a few years ago. Before that I worked in the construction industry for about 10 years.
How did you find your creativity?
In 2014 I quit drugs and alcohol, felt like shit and restless, started drawing and tattooing - I got addicted as fuck! Where do you get your inspiration from? Actually from everywhere. I keep jotting down different ideas in my notes. Then there are also times when things don't flow so well - then I usually go to the flea market and get inspiration and, for example, let old things become new in my drawings.
What do you think wall art can bring into a home?
Actually, it's more for me than other decorations, I would say. What do you have on the walls at home? My partner takes care of the art we have on the walls - but the most recent additions were 2 super beautiful paintings I inherited from my grandmother and grandfather who passed away last spring. 💔
