"The Old Man of Storr is a 48m high pinnacle on the Isle of Skye about 12km north of the main town of Portree. For this shot I got up at three in the morning to be up in time for sunrise (around 4:50 am). It takes about an hour to climb from the parking lot. On the way it rained several times, but there were a few gaps in the clouds in the east, so I hoped that the sun would shine through there. When we got to the top, the wind was so strong that I was worried that I wouldn't be able to get a clear picture at all. It rained again and again, but shortly after sunrise the sun managed to bathe the landscape in a beautiful light. Behind the Old Man of Storr the next rain shower was already making its way towards me, at the last moment I managed to take this picture while constantly wiping away the first raindrops on the camera lens, before a short downpour hit me. To my great delight, the last rays of the sun created a small rainbow (even an additional second, albeit very faint rainbow just above the rocks). The effort was worth it again and I am glad that I was able to experience and capture this natural spectacle."
