Louis de Bakker
Ermelo, Netherlands
Already at a young age the visual talent at Louis de Bakker was already apparent. At a later age, he had the need to deepen this talent.
In the seventies he took lessons at the Duvelhok in Tilburg.
Henri Ubink and Werner Moonen followed model drawings.
In the following years he pursued autonomous direction at the art academy St.Joost in Breda.
Louis de Bakker's main premise remains human in his environment.
This he does brilliantly.
He depicts man and animal from different angles, from realistic to romantic scenes.
His still lifes and model studies testify to craving for form analysis and experiment in composition and color.
Over the years, Louis de Bakker appeared as a special cartoonist and illustrator.
In this area he received numerous assignments.
There is also his strongest side.
Since 2013, Louis de Bakker has exchanged his pencil and brush for digital drawing and painting.
He was increasingly enthusiastic about the digital imaging of absurd and sometimes world-alienated human and animal figures.
For years Louis de Bakker has appeared as a special cartoonist and illustrator.
Remarkably, Louis starts on the computer by bringing together lines, spots and shapes, without any idea or story.
During the set-up of these compositions, his imagination is stimulated and characters from these forms are recognizable.
Slowly but surely these characters will form a story with a clou.
He does this brilliantly.
In this digital world, he also shows how talented he is.
