Håkan Larsson
Stockholm, Sweden
The transformation of visceral movement through the two-dimensional lens of the camera is quite challenging. Image and the three-dimensional body are not always able to meet in the moment. What the eye sees and the body feels is not automatically caught on camera, and vice versa. Something needs to be added in the translation: a collaboration and interpretation, but still keeping true to the original intention from the dancer with all its attending complexity and wealth of detail. The meeting creates friction, creativity and new directions for both image and dance. It can document and comment, while still being a medium in its own right.
