"After painting "Let's go to the beach", I felt that I wanted to paint more women in hats and got stuck for a photo with a woman looking out over the sea. I wanted to paint something similar and I love this painting. It was the first time I tried to paint a more authentic body and also used both acrylic and oil. I had never painted denim shorts either, but they turned out so nice and the whole painting so lovely that I just wanted to jump into it and feel the warm sand between my toes, the sound of the waves and the sun's rays against my skin. I asked my Instagram followers to name her and stuck with Liberty. The name felt appropriate for the time we lived in during the pandemic and the restrictions we were forced to follow, not least regarding travelling in the world. The original was sold to a customer living outside Stockholm. The motif is now included as an art print in my summer collection."
