My father's name is Hans Wilhelmsson. He is retired and has lived in Uddevalla since the late 1960s. He was born and raised in St. Levene, a small community outside Vara in Sweden. Here he talks about his great hobby of drawing and painting.

"My interest in painting and drawing started early in my life, and in adulthood interest has continued.
It's always been a hobby alongside my professional life. There is also an interest in discovering and creating something of what is in our surroundings. In the home, garden, landscape, sea and some old utensils. The motives that have dominated for quite a long time have been to draw older buildings, especially from Uddevalla. Here we also have Sweden's oldest seaside resort Gustafsberg, which has a lot of exciting old buildings. In addition to buildings, I also choose motifs with beautiful nature.

Reproducing these motifs in pencil drawings has been a particular challenge. But it is also an important part of my hobby to test and dare. Quite early on, I also wanted to try painting with watercolor, oil and acrylic. That interest is still there. My technique is very simple. I start from a photo that I have in most cases taken myself but I have also received good help with photos taken by my loved ones. I load the photo into my computer and pick it up on my monitor or make a printout that I draw from on the drawing board.

On a few occasions I have chosen to show my drawings outside my own family but through one of my grandchildren Matilda, my drawings are now being spread on TikTok. I am overwhelmed, proud, happy and grateful for all the words of praise. My hope is that my drawings can continue to spread joy and approval. "
